What we do

Kayaking.co participates in affiliate programs with outdoor and outdoor-recreation retailers including (but not limited to) Amazon Associates, REI Co-op, Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's, and Backcountry. When you click an affiliate link on our site and make a purchase at the destination merchant within their cookie window, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

How affiliate links are marked

Every affiliate link on this site:

• Uses rel="sponsored nofollow" per Google's outbound-link guidance.
• Opens in a new tab (target="_blank").
• Is preceded by a visible affiliate disclosure on relevant pages.
• Is included only when the linked product fits the use case discussed in the content.

How affiliate relationships affect recommendations

We pick products by use case fit, not by commission rate. Where multiple products meet the criteria, we may choose the one with stronger affiliate support — but we will not recommend an inferior product because the commission is higher.

We also include products that have no affiliate program when they are the right answer, and we disclose when no affiliate link is available.

FTC compliance

U.S. law (16 CFR Part 255 — the FTC Endorsement Guides) requires "clear and conspicuous" disclosure of material connections between endorsers and advertisers. Our disclosures appear near the top of every affiliate-heavy page, in clear plain language, and in places where they cannot be reasonably missed.

Product prices, availability, and specifications change frequently. Always verify with the merchant before purchasing. We try to keep guides updated but cannot guarantee real-time accuracy.
